Happy 3rd birthday Ashley & Autumn!

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

This past weekend we headed down to New Bedford (my hometown) to visit my parents and celebrate my twin nieces 3rd birthdays. The party was being held at the Freetown / Fall River State Forest which has big open green spaces, a wading pool with sprinkler for the children and space to just hang around and grill. The twins second birthday was in the same park last year and we somehow managed to end up IN the forest driving around boulders, roots, on grass and dirt paths. It was a horrific ordeal that ended with needing police assistance, feel free to read about it here. Unlike last year we made it to the party on time and forest-less with the help of GPS, iPhones and hand written instructions.

It was an awesome day with full of laughs, good weather and family. We also killed it on the gift giving front. We even got a text later that night that Autumn was going to sleep still wearing hers (see below).

I love seeing Sierra and her cousins play, laugh and grow together. It's been a fast and exciting three years and Sierra, Ashley and Autumn are quickly becoming the best of friends.

Watching the girls excitement over their cakes was so awesome and even better was watching Autumn start to dig into the whole cake with a fork! I may have egged her on :-). Sorry Aunty Alison!

Here is the original Hipster Dad, my Father.

Here is my mother playing with Autumn's new clock with Lily and Sierra.

All the toys in the world but Autumn and Sierra decided to get filthy and play in the dirt for a solid 35 minutes. It's so fun watching them play together.

Here is Autumn with one of her gifts; a slap watch bracelet. This little girl is OBSESSED with clocks of all kinds. She has a pretty big collection already and now she has one she can easily carry around with her at all times. :-)

Check out our new friends TruckerDeluxe.com !!!

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

So recently the dudes over at TruckerDeluxe.com reached out to us and asked if we'd like to try out anything from their site. Well one look and the answer was pretty obvious... DUH? They are so up our alley it's crazy with brands like Analog, Gravis, The Hundreds and Society (among a hundred others) it's a pretty one stop shop for all things hip and cool. We chose a couple of products we liked and they sent them out to us for free99 (Thanks Trucker!).

For a limited time if you use the code: HIPSTER20 you will get 20% off your entire order at TruckerDeluxe.com so get on that people!

I work in an office where I have to be halfway decently dressed but it doesn't mean I check my personality or style at the door and dawn the baby blue shirt w/ khakis. So I picked out the WeSC Sullivan shirt which is officially the comfiest and best fitting button up I own. Check it out here. It's 52 bucks which is more than I'd normally spend on myself but I assure you guys it is rad.

More importantly and relevant to Dads everywhere office pixel pusher or not is the second thing I chose which was the Gravis Uno Backpack. An awesome backpack for work by day and awesome manly diaper bag by weekend. It fits my laptop, my camera and as many diapers, wipes and toys as a toddler can ask for. It's way more comfortable than my old bag and I love the simplicity of the design.

Check out Trucker's wide array of backpacks here.

In Boston we have a neighborhood called "Allston" which is normally where the hipsters drink, smoke cigarettes and vomit on the sidewalk but apparently young aspiring reporters live there too.

This little guy walks all over Allston and interviews local business owners. Try not to die from how cute this is... LOVE IT. -C

Our weekend via Instagram ♥ v.3

So this weekend was SWELTERING hot in Boston (as it was across the nation it seems) but we had a fun weekend and managed to stay cool with cookouts, water balloon fights with friends and of course our trusty air conditioner.

On Friday we had our weekly Family Movie Night and watched Matilda (streaming on Netflix right now BTW). For 6 months I've been wanting to paint some rooms, fix things around the house, get new furniture, etc but kept using the excuse "We may move! I don't want to bother doing X Y Z if we're going to move in 6 months!". Well we decided we're staying for another year so I have no more excuses. So this week I bit the bullet and started getting shit done including Saturday morning when I finished painting our bathroom from a boring white to a fresh clean "True Turquoise". After the painting adventure we drank our weight in coffee and then drove over to our local YMCA and finally signed up like we've been talking about doing for months! After a very productive morning we drove out to Milford, MA to enjoy a cookout with some of Lauren and I's friends. Unfortunately Sierra felt sick the whole time and just wanted to lie around on our friends couch :-(. Sunday she was still feeling under the weather so we had a snuggle in bed and watch Toy Story kind of day + Mama let me escape for a few hours to watch the Euro Cup Final too heh. Once she was asleep Lauren and I decided to have some drinks and continue our home makeover kick by painting our living room from a gross off white to a awesome bright yellow! All in all a pretty low-key weekend but got a lot done and saved up our energy for a busy 4th of July week coming up.

Even though Instagram decided to be down for a decent part of the weekend Lauren and I managed to snap some cute pictures. Enjoy. -Craig
