Father's Day Giveaway: Land's End Polo Shirt!

Friday, June 17, 2011

Something you quickly learn about being a parent is that people are quick to judge you on your appearance. When you're the weird, tattooed, shaggy haired, cut off jean shorts wearing dad on the playground you get a few weird looks to say the least! Since Sierra was born I have started to populate my closet with more 'adult' clothes because well I'm supposed to be the grown up now right? Don't get me wrong I still have plenty of t-shirts, skinny jeans and vans but it's nice to have some clothes that make you look half way presentable too. When Land's End contacted us asking if we'd like to do a giveway for Father's Day I was stoked because this is our first official giveaway and a polo shirt is a sweet way to look professional but still be comfortable, it's kind of like the mullet of business attire. They sent me one to try out and I have to say it is one of the nicest polo's I've ever had. Super comfortable, fit's perfectly and comes in a ton of nice colors! Details on the actual shirt here: http://bit.ly/jEGvLJ

Sierra and I playing around in front of our apartment wearing our new polo shirt.

Hmm, lets see. I think the main reason I want to win this shirt is because my dad, Arnold, is one of the best men on this earth right now. I got diagnosed with Thyroid cancer early January of this year. Tumor about 4cm in diameter. As soon as that happened, things just went south even more. I got fired from my job about a week after applying for short term disability. My mental state was less then wholesome and school was kicking my butt. My dad stepped up to the plate, like he has been since before I was even born. He's been paying my student loans, which aren't cheap. He's taken me to my appointments that are all the way in Kenmore, which isn't close for us. He even opted for the easier treatment, though more expensive, because he wanted me to be as comfortable as possible during the whole thing. I will admit, I've given him a hard time for the last 23 years, but I know he knows I love him more than words can express. I have no job, so no means of getting him a gift this year for Father's day. I already felt embarrassed and upset about not bringing any income in, so if I bought him something, it would prob make him made that I spent money I should be saving. He's a strong man. Each time we go in for a new ultra sound and required blood test, I can see the fear in his face and the worry. I don't like seeing that in someone so strong. I would like to win so that I could give my dad something meaningful and awesome. Also, take his mind off of all the craziness going on with us right now.

Whoa that was long. Well, thankie. Peace out.

  3. For this simple reason: Other than you cool cats I'm pretty sure I'm the hippest dad on earth (at least to my 4 year old son)! Hook a nine-fiver up with a sick polo!

p.s. You can totally rock the polo with skinny jeans and chucks...as long as you have think rimmed glasses and purposely messy hair...trust me!

  4. Yeah, polos are great for going between work and play for dudes. They are becoming more of a staple in Logan's wardrobe since 90% of his other shirts are covered in liquor or beer logos.

I would love to grab him a new one for Father's Day!
